Riverside Holiday Resort is located on the river in the seaside town of Urunga, situated on the NSW’s north coast. In the local Gumbainggar language of the Indigenous Aboriginal people, Urunga means “long white sands”, and it certainly lives up to its name.
Urunga is a place where the rivers meet the sea. With the Bellinger and Kalang rivers coming together, boating and fishing (both freshwater and saltwater) is extremely popular in the area.
Urunga is located between beachside holiday hotspots, Nambucca Heads and Coffs Harbour. Coffs Harbour is one of the nation’s most popular holiday destinations, frequented by Australian and international visitors alike.
Urunga, located just twenty-five minutes to the south of Coffs, is an ideal choice for those wishing to explore the attractions of the area, whilst enjoying a peaceful village environment.
Urunga is approximately five and a half hours drive to the north of Sydney and less than five hours south of Brisbane. Riverside Holiday Resort can also be accessed via the Coffs Harbour Airport, one of the state’s largest and busiest regional airports. Sydney and Melbourne can be reached directly from Coffs, with Sydney less than an hour’s flying time away. Direct to Brisbane from Coffs Harbour will commence in 2016.
Should you choose, your time spent in Urunga can be all about leisure activities – be it accessing the beautiful Bonville Golf Resort just fifteen minutes away, exploring the level, accessible boardwalk in the heart of town that leads out to the Pacific Ocean or sitting by the lagoon and enjoying tasty, local seafood.
There are also many great day trips to do from Urunga too. One such spot is Raleigh, only ten minutes away. In Raleigh you have the choice of two options at opposing ends of the adrenaline spectrum – wine tasting at Australia’s most easterly vineyard or the thrill of go-karting at the raceway! The very pretty, artsy town of Bellingen is also close by and it’s very worthwhile to catch their monthly community market. A visit to experience the beautiful, World Heritage Listed, Dorrigo National Park (45 minutes from Urunga) is also advisable.
Many beautiful and patrolled beaches are within easy access of Urunga as well such as Hungry Head and North Beach, Mylestrom. Bush walking is also a popular way to pass time in this beautiful little pocket of Australia’s eastern seaboard.
